Description:

The class is a mix of education and practice. We will start with a 20-30 minute beach session at the beginning to cover safety stuff, the plan, and goals as well as a 20-30 min debrief. The middle two hours will be split between self and assisted rescues.

Even if you think your rescue skills are solid, you will learn something valuable! I teach the concepts behind why we do the rescues the way we do because they never go as planned when really needed. This allows you to adapt in the moment. I stress techniques that are safe and secure for both parties in rough conditions.

We'll cover:

  • self-rescues - scrambles (2 different ways) and paddle float (3 different ways)
  • Assisted-rescues - the standard T, the scoop, and the stirrup
  • Paddle management (they always get in the way, don't they?)

Plan to swim...often.
Plan to challenge yourself, try something new, and learn.
Plan to have fun!
